"Wing Beat", Palmer Sculpture Biennial 2012
In this
work for Palmers I work again with sand, white or cream colored sand. Wing
Beat, this title refers to the birds, eagles and hawks, I noticed in these
mountains high on top. I set the “wings” in the long valley going down near the
“King´s Seat”. My abstract striped “feathers” underline the structure of this
piece of land and will disappear too after a short time. My aim is to set a
temporarily eye catcher for that site and draw attention on native patterns and
the birds. The second color which shows up is the natural umbra color of the
earth on the site. The drawing can be seen from far and from the top of the
valley. The structure is natural. In the heat a high whirr evokes the movement
of bird´s wings.
